Kiwi raider Sacred Elixir has returned to racing in slick form this time and continues to firm in favouritism for the 2016 JJ Atkins; currently available at a quote of $4.20 with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au.

Trialling well in the lead-up to his competitive debut, Sacred Elixir immediately stamped himself as a runner to follow when placing second in the talent-rich Timeout Maiden (1200m) at Ellerslie on December 28th before charging home to win the Countdown to Karaka Millions (1200m) a fortnight later.

Returning to the paddock after placing sixth in the Listed Karaka Millions (1200m) on January 24th, the Pour Moi gelding arrived in Australia for a comfortable win in the Bundaberg Rum Handicap (1400m) and ran on well for sixth in the Group 2 BRC Sires’ Produce (1350m).

Godolphin runner Souchez has also found good and consistent form since returning this time and currently figures as the sole occupant of the second line of JJ Atkins betting at a quote of $4.60.

Beating a classy field to the lien in the Schweppes Maiden Plate (1100m) at Rosehill on December 19th, Souchez return to racing in February for third in the Group 2 Skyline Stakes (1200m) before taking out the Group 2 Pago Pago Stakes (1200m).

Having arrived in Brisbane for third in the Group 2 Champagne Classic (1200m), the Lonhro colt overcame a luckless run for a credible fifth in the Group 2 BRC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1350m) a fortnight ago and appears as though he will relish a step up to a mile.

James McDonald will take the ride on Souchez this weekend, who will leave from the central barrier 9.

Attention is interestingly yet to herald much interest in 2016 JJ Atkins betting markets but remains sole occupant of the third line and arguably offers punters the best value for money at a quote of $7 for success.

Attention ran seventh in the Pago Pago Stakes first-up this year, but responded in the best way possible for success in the Group 3 The Schweppervescence (1400m) on March 26th.

Failing to make anything of an impact in the Group 1 ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m), Peter and Paul Snowden’s decision to pull stumps and target the winter has already paid dividends as the Stratum colt has finished second in the Champagne Classic and won the BRC Sires’ Produce Stakes.
