Press Statement ($4.60) is yet to contest a black type event but has opened as and maintained status as outright favourite in 2015 JJ Atkins betting markets with Ladbrokes.com.au ahead of Blueberry Hill ($5) and Bassett ($6).

Will Press Statement justify favouritism and win the 2015 JJ Atkins, or will one of his classy rivals find the line in the clear?

Counterattack ($7)

Counterattack has been luckless in his two Brisbane starts so far but will relish a step-up to a mile and is sure to receive a dream run from barrier 5 with Hugh Bowman aboard. Posting one win and a further three minors through his six career starts, the son of Redoute’s Choice won the TAB Place Multi Plate (1200m) with complete ease first-up and has run fourth in both the Group 2 Champagne Classic (1200m) and Group 2 BRC Sires’ Produce (1350m) over the last month. Undoubtedly offering the best value for money in 2015 JJ Atkins markets, Counterattack appears primed for success.

Blueberry Hill ($5)

Blueberry Hill is yet to finish worse than second over five career starts, has undoubtedly been the standout performer of the two-year-old ranks at this year’s Brisbane Winter Carnival but may need a little luck in running from barrier 8. Taking out a pair of minor Brisbane sprints upon debuting this year, the daughter of Myboycharlie ran a close second in the Group 3 Ken Russell Memorial Classic (1200m) on April 25th before returning to the winner’s circle in the Champagne Classic. Having placed second in the BRC Sires’ Produce Stakes, Blueberry Hill arguably offers punters the best value as a selection in a JJ Atkins quinella or trifecta bet.

Bassett ($6)

Peter Moody has been thrilled with the class displayed by Bassett over his short racing tenure so far but the two-year-old is yet to contest an event over 1100m, so the distance of the JJ Atkins is a query. Having taken out his one start to date, the Listen, Learn, Speak Handicap (1100m) on May 16th by close to two lengths, the Savabeel gelding certainly has the class to figure in the 2015 JJ Atkins.
