Trainer Gai Waterhouse has included Cyrus Rocks in nominations for Royal Ascot this season and has also revealed a trip to Brisbane for the 2015 J.J. Atkins may also be on the cards.

Unable to make much of a competitive impact on his competitive racing debut at Canterbury on April 29th, Waterhouse will allow the condition and results posted by the Bernardini colt over the coming month to dictate a path.

Waterhouse, who saddled Almalad to success in the 2014 edition of the J.J. Atkins, has included a total of nine runners in 2015 J.J. Atkins nominations.

Chris Waller has unearthed two of the country’s standout two-year-olds in Zoustar and Brazen Beau who ran second in the two most recent editions of the J.J. Atkins and will be hoping one of his six nominations for this year’s race will post similar results.

Debut winner Press Statement and Encosta Line arguably highlight the talented list of six.

Performing well in three barrier trials prior to his competitive debut, Press Statement jumped from the gates well in the TAB Place Multi Plate (1100m); the same race contested by Cyrus Rocks, receiving an ideal run in transit before displaying a keen turn of foot late to hit the line comfortably in the clear.

Yet to post a win over three competitive starts, Encosta Line was clearly looking for more ground when sixth in the Anzac Day Handicap (1100m) and looks likely to relish the conditions of the J.J. Atkins.

Godolphin has already experienced notable success in the two-year-old ranks this season and look set to be offered several good chances of success in the 2015 J.J. Atkins after trainer John O’Shea included five in nominations, including both Holler and Unbiased.

Performing well amongst notable competition in a Rosehill barrier trial on January 6th, Holler stamped his claims as a serious racehorse when beating the likes of Fireworks and Encosta Line to the post in the Hyland Race Colours Plate (1100m).

Unbiased is yet to appear on course competitively but is a relation of Golden Slipper winner Vancouver and should have no issue developing into a serious racehorse.
